Mr Paul Waltham – Milton Keynes

“I was offered a new job role at my company after they found out I was taking the courses.”

I have personally found the courses very hard but I have achieved the last 4 TMAs at 100%. The incredible thing is I was offered a new job role at my company after they found out I was taking the courses. Brilliant!

Mr Martyn Russell - Middlesex

“Since I completed my CCNA course with SkillsTrain...I’ve got a nice job in British Telecom, and also I recently was promoted as a Broadband Engineer.”

Since I completed my CCNA course with SkillsTrain, my personal development has gone up and up. I’ve got a nice job in British Telecom, and also I recently was promoted as a Broadband Engineer. So, I hope the SkillsTrain will take me to higher and higher like an Aircraft. Thanks for that.

Mr Nathan Strong – Southampton

“Since I started my course with SkillsTrain I have had many achievements, including passing both the CompTIA A Plus and Network Plus examinations - these achievements have directed me towards the major achievement of securing a job as a Network Analyst.”

Since I started my course with SkillsTrain I have had many achievements, including passing both the CompTIA A Plus and Network Plus examinations and managing my time efficiently, enabling me to study at least 20 hours a week and work fulltime. These achievements have directed me towards the major achievement of securing a job as a Network Analyst, earlier this month. I have been studying towards my CCNA certification through SkillsTrain for about two years now.

Network AnalystI started from the very beginning with the CompTIA A Plus Certification, followed by the CompTIA Network Plus Certification. My background is Marine Fisheries Science, so when I started on the CompTIA A Plus course, I was really starting from the beginning, i.e. that there is more to a PC than just a monitor and keyboard. I really do feel that the structure of the courses; the Tutor Marked Assignments; up to date Literature and Interactive Media has provided a great framework to study around and has given me a realistic edge to the industry.

My achievement has not been at all easy. I have worked really hard and been very dedicated to the courses. It is possible to start from the beginning, as I have found out. My next achievement will be to pass my CCNA and start the CCNP. The SkillsTrain courses work for those who work for it.

Miss Lisa Renshaw – Basingstoke

“I would like to say a big thanks to SkillsTrain as the providers of my course because I believe that without this course I would not have been offered my new job.”

Web DeveloperI have worked at my currently employment for just over 4 years now starting as a call centre worker. After 3 years I began to feel dissatisfied and wanted more from life, that’s when I decided to take up the CIW webmaster course and make something of my life. I then moved up within the same company and became an administrator. With the current situation of the global recession and companies cutting back my administrator job has come under threat as my employers look at outsourcing to the Far East.

However this has resulted in a great opportunity, as I have now been offered the role of Junior Web Developer within the IT department at my company. This is just fantastic I am absolutely over the moon! Considering I have no practical experience or any formal qualifications as of yet, but what I do have is an eagerness to learn new skills and the determination to work hard and achieve what I want out of life.

I have recently been learning Visual Basic.NET alongside my webmaster course which will give me a great head start and broaden my skill set. I would like to say a big thanks to SkillsTrain as the providers of my course because I believe that without this course I would not have been offered my new job. Over the years I have learned that you don’t always get what you want by just saying it but by doing something to prove you want it and that is what this course has done.

Mr Samuel Gordon – Bromley

“When I started the job, I was happy for the first time in my employment career! I got a £7000 pay increase over my previous job, along with putting everything I had learnt into practice... as a direct result of taking the training with SkillsTrain, my wages have increased enough to cover my fees 3 times over!”

Cisco EngineerI started my studying in January 2007. At the time I was working a job I despised, for very low wages. I was medically discharged from the British Army several months before, and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I received an email about SkillsTrain (I still to this day don't know how I got on the mailing list!) and decided to look into it further.

When the agent came to my house, I was worried about the cost. He told me to take a few days and do some research about Cisco and what sort of job roles required a CCNA. When I realised how much employers were willing to pay people with the qualification, I immediately decided to take the course. Six months after I started, I was offered a job in a data centre; I had not yet completed any of my qualifications and did not expect to hear back from them.

When I started the job, I was happy for the first time in my employment career! I got a £7000 pay increase over my previous job, along with putting everything I had learnt into practice. It soon became clear that I knew more about computers than I thought, and quickly became one of the more senior members of the support team. The highlight of this was when a colleague who had a degree in computer studies began to ask me how to do things!

Now, 12 months on, I am coming to the end of my studies. I am currently working in another data centre as a trainee networks engineer. The level of knowledge within the operations team is immense, I feel very proud that I was chosen to become part of that team. I am very happy in my career. As a direct result of taking the training with SkillsTrain, my wages have increased enough to cover my fees 3 times over! That makes paying for the course much easier – the CDF guys have been great. Making the decision to invest in my own future was the best financial decision I’ve ever made.

Mr Sajid Teladiya – Uxbridge

“Even though I haven't taken the exams yet, I was still able to get a job as a CSO (Computer Support Officer) where I solve problems on the computers and help out processing staff on IT applications.”

As a student of A+ (PC hardware and Maintenance) I have studied throughout and finished most of the assignments with nearly 100% marks. Even though I haven't taken the exams yet, I was still able to get a job as a CSO (Computer Support Officer), where I solve problems on the computers and help out processing staff on IT applications. This is like dream come true. This would have been impossible without doing the course with the college.

Passing the exams will boost my chance to gain an even better job in the IT field. I intended to pass my exam by end of February but I had to rearrange it for some personal reason. Hopefully I will pass the exams with good marks within next couple of months. I know a few people who have done this course with different organisations; they are still finding it difficult to understand the important part of the course.

Computer Support AnalystsAlso they had fewer assignments then what I have completed with the college. When I checked with them and their material, I found that they weren't given the course material with the necessary details. The lack of the information is costing them in terms of the knowledge they obtained for the A+ part. All the admin staffs and tutors are always helpful to me. I have noticed on many occasions that the tutors are always willing to go the extra mile to help me out on any problem with my study and in any practical work I carry out on my home PC, even though sometimes my work is not completely related to the course. I must say that by joining the SkillsTrain I have taken a big step forward for a bright future.

Mr Daniel Hobbs – Bristol

“I have been able to use the learning experience to get my job as an Apprentice Developer, where I develop different systems and infrastructures for the company.”

I have progressed greatly in the past few months, and performed well in my TMAs. Since April I have been achieving 100 and 90 marks in my TMAs. Not going lower than 90% and for my written assignment I gained 100%. I have been able to use the learning experience to get my job as an Apprentice Developer, where I develop different systems and infrastructures for the company. From the money that I have made in my apprenticeship, I have just started renting a house in Bristol. I’d like to say thanks too to CDF for the really helpful way the course was financed – everything went really smoothly and the staff were great.

Mr Panchadcharam Kankeyan – London

“I am constantly being asked by potential employers to attend interviews!”

Since joining SkillsTrain I have COMPLETED my CompTIA A+ and since this has happened I have had a new job from British Telecom and I am constantly being asked by potential employers to attend interviews! I am very much looking forward to passing my N+ and my CCNA with SkillsTrain!! I never thought in my life time I'd be motivated to study! Thanks to you SkillsTrain and thanks for arranging the finance through CDF, and the chance to spread the cost of the course at 0% interest, that really worked for me.

Mr Donny Kingsley Okoh - Nottingham

“I had been struggling to get a skilled job since, but now, I am proud to say that I just got employed by one of the biggest energy companies in the UK and worldwide. All thanks to SkillsTrain for helping me to brush up my IT skills.”

IT StudentsI enrolled with SkillsTrain believing that I already knew what I needed to know in Information Technology as I already had a Diploma Certificate in Information Technology and was on an ICT Degree Course with the Open University, but I was proved wrong. I had been struggling to get a skilled job since, but now, I am proud to say that I just got employed by one of the biggest energy companies in the UK and worldwide.

All thanks to SkillsTrain for helping me to brush up my IT skills. I was able to pass both the written and oral interviews, which were mostly IT based. I am currently undertaking the N+, and soon, I will be starting the CCNA and CCNP. I intend completing them and sitting for the professional exams. Keep it up SkillsTrain.

Mr Matthew Blackmore - Cambridge

“After completing the A+ I began to apply for jobs within IT, my first interview went well and an offer was made, I was delighted - Taking up a course with SkillsTrain has really improved my confidence and given me an excellent career path which is very clear and obtainable.”

I left university with a degree which had no real career path and left me unemployed for several months resulting in depression with no real idea of what I wanted to do with my life. I saw an advert on the internet for IT training through SkillsTrain and decided this may be the way to go. After the initial interview I was very excited about the career prospects and courses available.

I decided I would work from the ground up and with the advice of the SkillsTrain staff, I picked a certification plan which would help me achieve this. After starting my course I began to look for work in IT but was rejected due to lack of experience. I decided to gain an office job to enable me an entry point into the IT industry. After completing the A+ I began to apply for jobs within IT, my first interview went well and an offer was made, I was delighted.

The company I work for were very interested in the course and its benefits to myself and them. I have been given time to study during work and I am now half way through the N+. Since starting this I have been given a rise which can be accredited to the extra knowledge I have learnt from the N+. Taking up a course with SkillsTrain has really improved my confidence and given me an excellent career path which is very clear and obtainable. Thank you.

Mr Simon Davies – Swindon

“...I showed them the A+ N+ course I am doing and they were very much impressed and told me that I got the job straight away...”

This month has been brilliant for me. I have just got a brilliant new job in Vodafone as a customer service representative. I tried for this job last year but I got rejected because I didn’t not have any skills or experience. This year I gained the confidence to go again this time I showed them the A+ N+ course I am doing and they were very much impressed and told me that I got the job straight away and I start next month. Furthermore my assignment results came in today I got 100% I am even impressing myself. Can’t wait to progress further. I have always been work orientated and this course is so accelerating even for me. Thank you very much to the people who make this course what it is I have gained a lot of confidence in my career and in my own time under no pressure, not like school It’s brilliant. Thanks again.

Mr Karl James - Norwich

“I went through a group assessment for this 1 job that almost 100 people applied for. I was pleased with getting to the next interview stage and then successfully got the job.”

Looking for work with the credit crunch at the moment isn't easy, let alone trying to find an IT job at this time.

I applied for a job as a Support Analyst for a company. I went through a group assessment for this 1 job that almost 100 people applied for. I was pleased with getting to the next interview stage and then successfully got the job – my SkillsTrain course made the difference as I was the one with the relevant qualification. They were impressed to that I taken up the course on my own initiative. I have now been working there for two months now, and am studying the rest of my course, whilst also going on an ITIL course, funded by my new company.

Mr Craig Lowe – Newton Abbot

“I have set-up in business. I am now operating as a sole trader... I have managed to apply my new knowledge and celebrated my first contract this week. At this rate the course will have paid for itself in no time!”

Having completed the first section of the CIW Web Design Manager course I have set-up in business. I am now operating as a sole trader and managed to juggle my full time job, setting up and registering as a sole trader (bank accounts, tax, accountants, etc.) with the learning.

Despite being competent with computers, I would never have had the confidence of starting my own business without the course. Although there is still quite a way to go before completing the whole course, I have managed to apply my new knowledge and celebrated my first contract this week! Yes, it's only a small website, but it's a start. The response I've had locally from businesses I've contacted has been very positive and I am constantly networking with people, providing advice where possible.

I completed the first project on time and within budget so the client was very happy. Rather than creating free websites for friends/family I now have the confidence to approach "paying" clients. At this rate the course will have paid for itself in no time! Thank You, thank you, thank you. Oh and thank you to CDF for helping me to spread the cost of my course. It was a big decision for me but everything ran so smoothly and wasn’t a worry at all.
