Lancashire training schemes highlighted

Training initiatives in Lancashire designed to provide more people with the skills to get back to work have been praised by a local councillor.

According to local radio station 107 The Bee, a wide variety of enterprising training schemes are being delivered in Lancashire to help people get back to work and tackle rising unemployment levels caused by the current recession.

Councillor Mark Perks, cabinet member for young people at the local authority, told the radio station that a variety of projects are helping to improve opportunities for young people in the area and give them a chance of finding employment.

Taking an IT training course could be one way to boost the chances of getting a new job by showing potential employers that you have developed the skills necessary to take on the role.

Recent figures published by the Office for National Statistics revealed a further rise in unemployment during the past few months.

The survey also showed that young people leaving full-time education have been particularly affected by the lack of jobs.
